Walking downstairs, I found my dog (and good buddy), Bentley, snuggling up close to our laptop. Were he human, I just wonder if he might want to be a developer 🙂

How Time Zone Conversion Should Look
We sell as many Magento modules to Europe as we do in the States. Our clients span the globe. Last week I met with a new client in Sydney. It took me 10 minutes to figure out the time conversion and get a call invite to Lee in San Diego.
Luke found this awesome time zone tool from the amazing designers at Every Time Zone. Visually, it is far-and-away better than anything else I’ve seen for time zones.

Magento Hosting Case Study from Stackable
It’s no secret that Magento on the wrong server setup can make response times feel like you’re back in dial-up days of yore. So I found this Magento hosting case study from Stackable quite intriguing.
Listen Technologies was running Magento on a shared hosting setup, but not very well:
Magento just didn’t work very well on a shared platform. We saw a lot of delays, time outs, and error messages when we made adjustments to the database. Things just weren’t working.
After switching to a Stackable 1G container, here’s what happened:
Out of the box, Stackable improved our load times dramatically—from about 36 seconds to 1 second. It was amazing. Once we got on it and started testing it, all of the issues we were having before were immediately gone. I really like the interface and the flexibility of changing and modifying on the fly without having to call anyone. I mean…it’s a great platform at a much better rate.
Stackable’s scalable containers and daily pricing based on usage might make it a really attractive option for Magento retailers. (Note: Elias has a test account with Stackable, but we haven’t had an opportunity to try it out ourselves yet.)
